What is worth noting, Joyce, is that within the combined Sci-Fi and Fantasy segement, Fantasy is growing much more quickly than Sci-Fi, which is being slowly taken over by series writing, like Star Trek and Star Wars books. And interesting shift.Moniquehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10736499939969754097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547067420689722925.post-87091267806312613912010-01-26T13:18:59.838-05:002010-01-26T13:18:59.838-05:00A nice summary of the themes we saw at ConFusion. ...A nice summary of the themes we saw at ConFusion. The rising prominance of women readers, and writers, in what is now the combined Sci-Fi and Fantasy segments is most interesting. It is a funny mix... Dan ought to read mine. I think of science fiction as more male dominated (both author-wise and interest-wise).

Dan is always complaining about the lack of science in modern science fiction. He doesn't read science fiction (just science and history), but he does continue to watch his favorite science fiction TV shows "despite its growing population of blood-sucking mirages made modern, slender, sexy, and immortal".Joyce P.
