I would draw attention to the Congressional appropriations bill. It would effectively gut the U.S. Bureau of the Census. A more detailed summary is presented on LaMarotte (link).
I do not understand the minds of the people behind this. Caesar would have made short shrift of them, when he ordered a census throughout the Empire.
In the greatest antiquity we find the earliest forms of scripts used for inventory of objects, items, and people. The need for such informsation has been known about for millenia.
My question, then, is what form of cunning disruption is taking form in our government?... der Geist der stets verneint?
Mephistopheles is not that stupid. In Goethe's Faust he suggests to Faust that lots of gold still hasn't been found, but surely it will be found one of these days. He urges Faust to print some money backed by that unfound gold. I wonder if the Greeks had a god of stupidity...
