Throw Khadafi from the Air (A Bomb, A Bomb)

We live in truly mad times. Perhaps all times are mad, but the difference today is that now they come blurring over our TV screens as soon as they happen, blood, rags and all, bodies dragged from concrete pipes, psychedelic Tommy guns held up to blast the air. Wolf Blitzers magically rise like newly created flowers to tells us all about these wonders, even when it’s not their time to be on air. It all blurs nowadays, legality, interest, law, license, right, wrong, reason and insanity. Ring around the rosy, a pocket full of posies, “Ashes, Ashes!” We all fall down.

  1. I'm hoping to avoid the Khadafi photos. I had no interest in seeing bin Laden's bloody body, and I have no interest in Khadafi's.

Come to think of it, perhaps it'll make an interesting experiment to see if I can successfully avoid the photos. Given my near-total avoidance of the cable "news" channels, I probably have a better chance at it than most. We shall see.

  2. Well, that experiment lasted until 3:44 pm when I clicked on the link in a Tweet that said: "Classic NY Post Yankees headline" or somesuch.

In retrospect, I shoulda just gone with my instinctive reaction to avoid anything owned by Rupert Murdoch. That's *always* a good idea.

  3. Teased by your Teaser, which comes across like one of those "After we come back" come-ons on cable, I had to check. Now which was it?

    Yankee Doodle Randy?
    Khadafy Killed by Yankee Fan?

  4. Are you comparing the "madding crowd" of cable TV to the Black Death? ("ashes, ashes, etc.)

If you are, it is apt.

  5. Yeah, Montag. It was deliberate.
